Alexis Samaneigo - Undergraduate Researcher

Research Interests

I am Alexis Samaniego, a fourth year undergraduate student majoring in Animal Science in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. I have always had a passion for animal conservation and health, and hope to become a veterinarian one day. My research at GVL has consisted of developing a SHERLOCK assay to detect invasive nutria in California waterways. I am also an intern at the Hackmann lab, in which we study microbial digestion within the rumen. During my time outside of the school year, I am employed at a veterinary hospital and fill my free time learning different fiber arts, as well as spending time with my family and pets.
