Kestrels occupy an expansive home range. This includes a large amount of the continental United States and results in an intersection with agriculture. Kestrels may be providing an ecosystem service by consuming agricultural pests such as rodents. 

Mary Badger is using beak swabs and metabarcoding to identify Kestrel diets genetically.
